Carey Long

Carey Long is a Limerick-based visual artist, originally from Kilkenny. Carey Graduated from Limerick school of art and design with a BA in sculpture & combined media in 2018. Since graduating she has been creating her practices from spacecraft studios where she is one of the current co-directors of the space. Carey creates botanical sculptures out of found objects/materials, Irish flowers, and foliage. All materials that she uses are either found objects or biodegradable.  The main aim of her work is to reconnect her viewers with nature.  Carey recently exhibited in Limerick artist Gavin Hoggs 'Secret Languages Of Flowers’ exhibition in June 2022. She also co-organized and co-curated the ‘MAXIMALISM EXHIBITION’ with painter and textiles artist Shannan Curtis, showcasing 47 local artists across all disciplines in the spacecraft project space in May 2022. Carey has also undergone training in Kay's School Of Floristry in 2021.
