KATE MACDONALD
Kate MacDonald is an artist and printmaker from Co. Laois, currently based in Limerick. Her multidisciplinary practice reflects her curiosity and expresses her interest in storytelling through; drawing, printmaking, video/moving image, and found objects.
In 2023, Kate graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Printmaking and Contemporary Practice from the Limerick School of Art and Design. She is an active member of the Limerick Printmakers (LP). In 2024, she developed a keen interest in more sustainable printmaking from her Erasmus+ for Graduates internship in Scuola Internazionale di Grafica (SG), Venice, 2024 (January-October). She co-organised the Venice 25 Hour Print Challenge in SG as part of LP’s International Print Event in March 2024.
In 2025, Kate was the recipient of the Spacecraft Studios Associate Membership Award (March-September), and Print Network Ireland’s Inter-Studio Residency Award at Graphic Studio Dublin (May). She is currently working towards her first solo exhibition in the Dunamaise Arts Centre (July-August 2025), awarded by the FETC, Abbeyleix, with support from the Laois Arts Office.
She is passionate about constantly learning, the power of community, and creating spaces for connection through art. She co-founded the ‘Shut Up I’m Networking’ podcast with Lucy Sweeney, creating a platform for conversations with artists about their work, lives and artistic journeys so far!
